But this game suffers from some of the issues from very early music games that were later fixed on those titles.The notes are represented by the bad dudes, who walk half a circle around you and then attack, at which point you need to hit the correspondent note to defeat them; all the enemies are color coded, yellow are whole notes (normal), blue are half (twice as fast) and red have more than one note at the same time. This works well for the easier difficulties but as more notes are used in higher difficulties the amount of clutter in the screen makes the notes unreadable as they tend to obscure each other.As I mentioned, there was a similar problem on the DDR games back in the day, and it was solved by forgetting about the colors and increasing the speed of the notes (usually x4 for the harder songs) in order to see them. In later dance games they even stopped color coding the notes, as this doesn't help on songs with a lot of notes.The graphics are nice during the songs and things keep very dynamic and interesting but the moves are not exactly great, they need to be fast since they're executed as you hit the notes, but the animations themselves are too acrobatic and complicated, making the characters look kinda silly.The muisc selection is hit and miss, but mostly just angsty teenager music from the early 2000's.Lastly the story in totally generic and kinda cringy.There are better rhythm based games on steam for sure.. Very fun game,possible endless replayability, i finished lee's story and tried to make my own tracks but it didn't turn out well,gonna try again later, 8.5/10 from me.. It's sad that this game is not receiving as much attention as it deserves.... 3 hours later. . . This game is absolutely AMAZING!!! If you're a very musical person that has a broad and far taste in music then I'll tell you this game is for you! Although, you MUST have rhythm. Me personally I'm a 6-7 year drummer, so I have fairly good rhythm but I still do find this game VERY challenging. This game is filled with a whole lot of different genres of music varying house, trance, rock, hip hop, RnB, Metal, Rap. So there's something for everyone!!!If you do get this game, I do recommend doing the 3 tutorials first. It REALLY helps! Don't be "THAT GUY" that thinks "Oh I'm a hardcore gamer that's also very musical, I can handle anything!" Don't be him. Actually... Don't be me then.Playing on a standard difficulty can be very entertaining with it being really repetitive, but not only that but also the skill to having to hit the button RIGHT ON TIME to get a perfect score.This isn't the only part of the game that is amazing... There's more!Once you complete certain levels or challenges you can unlock different modes such as the 'Beat Your Music' Mode. You can upload your own music into the game and dance to it on a normal, hard, expert or master difficulty! This can become REALLY entertaining for everybody, so I do suggest trying it out!All in all, this game is pretty amazing if you're musical or even just LOVE music. If not, then I don't think this game is for you. Vote this up if it convinced you in getting this game :). KickButte Steam Edition is a good rhythm game. It's kicking my butte.Now I know why enV's songs from the ultimate butte game Electronic Super Joy are in this game. Other songs are cool too, but ESJ's soundtrack is one of my favorites, so it's really nice to see it in KickButte. Oh, you can also play with your own songs.Buy it. Play it on normal difficulty. Then get your butte kicked on higher difficulties which are sometimes always pretty insane.. Ok, first comes first, I suggest to go straight to the hardest difficulty, since that's the only one where I can actually recognize the rhythm; it's a mid-range challenge, so if you feel you are very good but not particularly exceptional at this kind of games it should be up your alley.Would have preferred a bigger song selection and some extra way to interact, but I really liked the idea to add some cinematic feeling to the gameplay, especially when coupled with the right amount of cheesiness; I also extremely enjoyed the double tap mechanism, that allows the player to ignore bonuses while getting used to the game and stepping up the challenge by collecting them when he feels confident enough afterwards.
